Informative Note | Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters

Decision no. 2022/1206 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 14 July, approving the admission of the European Union to the Convention on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters.

The aim is to improve access to justice for European Union companies and citizens through a system that facilitates the recognition and enforcement of foreign court decisions, anywhere in the world where the defendant has assets, thus promoting international trade.
