In an interview with Human Resources, Gonçalo Pinto Ferreira, partner of the Labour and Social Security practice at TELLES, argues that although the Labour Code was reviewed and amended in May 2023, it is imperative to correct the errors identified: "Allowing these errors to stabilise and consolidate will in itself be the worst mistake of all".
The TELLES lawyer states that Portugal's competitiveness requires modern and flexible labour legislation that attracts and retains investment and contributes to a robust and solid business fabric. In particular, he argues that “[...] it is essential to change, from the outset, a regulatory paradigm in which companies are now subject to a series of new formal and bureaucratic obligations that weigh on daily management and consume a lot of time and resources”.
