Joaquim Caimoto Duarte, Of Counsel in European and Competition area of practice, in an interview with Jornal de Negócios, clarifies questions about the efficiency and control mechanisms in the distribution of European funds to support the recovery of the Portuguese economy, the RRP (Recovery and Resilience Plan).
According to the TELLES Lawyer, specialized in European and Competition Law, “The governance model of European funds allocated to Portugal through the RRP provides, among others, for important control and auditing powers, as well as reporting and data transmission to the European Commission". Entities such as the Development and Cohesion Agency, the Planning, Strategy, Evaluation and International Relations Office of the Ministry of Finance, the European Commission itself, OLAF (European Anti-Fraud Office), the European Court of Auditors and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, they all play an important role at different stages of the distribution and auditing process of European Funds.
