Joaquim Caimoto Duarte, TELLES lawyer in the practice area of European Law and Competition, is the author of the opinion article entitled “the New EU Regulation on Vertical Agreements”, published in Jornal de Negócios.
According to Joaquim Caimoto Duarte, the entry of the Commission's new regulation (EU) 2022/720 "emphasizes the importance of another normative block of competition rules, this time absolutely relevant for the life of companies, for their day-to-day business, related to the so-called vertical agreements”, also mentioning that the “effort of legislative simplification by the European Commission was also due to the fact that the business environment in the EU has changed in the last decade, with the growth of online sales and the entry of new operators such as digital platforms”.
The TELLES lawyer points out that “companies will have a period of one year to verify whether their contracts comply with the new Regulation, a period that could be used by the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) to disclose the new rules to companies.
