José Pedroso de Melo, Of Counsel in the Tax area of practice at TELLES, participated in the CNN Meio Dia program, on CNN, in a time frame dedicated to the State of the Nation Debate. Several issues that mark the Portuguese present were discussed, namely the issue of inflation, as well as the role of the European Union in supporting the Portuguese economy.
According to the Tax lawyer from TELLES “The Portuguese budget situation will not improve because of inflation. Portugal continues to have a huge public debt, the scenario is for an increase in interest rates, so if the state charges more, it will also have to spend more. On the other hand, it is important to bear in mind that any increase in the purchasing power of the Portuguese will also potentially generate more inflation”.
